EnvJobs-L is a mechanism with which members of the environmental science and public policy community may use electronic mail to learn and share information about environmental job and educational opportunities. Many of us receive numerous electronic mail announcements of environmental employment and educational opportunities. EnvJobs-L provides a mechanism to share these announcements with the broader community. EnvJobs-L should be used in conjunction with your school's Office of Career Services. Many environmental job opportunities are not announced via electronic mail, and are therefore unlikely to appear on this list. Your Office of Career Services will assist you in formulating a more comprehensive job search strategy. EnvJobs-L is different from many other Internet discussion lists in two significant ways: 1. EnvJobs-L is moderated. This means that all messages that are posted to the list are reviewed by the list owner before they are passed along to the other subscribers. This feature ensures that all messages are pertinent to environmental employment and educational opportunities. 2. By default, EnvJobs-L subscriptions are "digested." This means that subscribers receive at most one message per day that contains a compendium of all the messages posted to the list during the previous 24 hours. This feature significantly reduces the amount of e-mail clutter typically associated with Internet discussion lists. Participation in EnvJobs-L is open to all interested parties. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ II. How do I subscribe to EnvJobs-L? To subscribe to EnvJobs-L, send a message to listproc@environment.harvard.edu containing the line SUBSCRIBE EnvJobs-L . EnvJobs-L archives are available via the Harvard Environmental Information Center World Wide Web home page (http://environment.harvard.edu) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ IV. Your announcement will be sent to EnvJobs-L subscribers within 24 hours. Remember that the purpose of this list is to share information about environmental employment and educational opportunities. Messages that are not announcements about environmental employment and educational opportunities will be rejected by the moderator. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ V.
